Oman and Etihad Rail Company (OERC) has invited local companies specialized in implementing infrastructure projects to submit prequalification bids to tender for the Oman-UAE railway network project by March 27, 2023.
This invitation paves the way for the Omani private sector to play a central role in the country’s logistic development and contribute to the Sultanate’s national economy. Interested companies can find prequalification documents available for purchase and download on the e-payment services portal.
Following the conclusion of the prequalification process, OERC plans to float tenders for the civil and construction works on the railway network, which will be divided into three packages. The first package includes the design and construction of the railway itself, the second includes the construction of amenities and stations, while the third includes the construction of various project facilities in preparation for the main tender.
The mega-project follows through on the vision to connect Oman and the UAE via a state-of-the-art railway network, strengthening the historically close relations between the two nations and optimizing the efficiency of cross-border land operations throughout the GCC. The line is set to transport passengers and goods across 303 km and slash the journey time, which will maximize efficiencies in transportation and logistics and increase market competitiveness by reducing supply chain costs and attracting investment.
